The Eagles are prepared to take to the skies one more as they prepare to end their five decades of travelling this autumn with a farewell tour.
The "Hotel California" and "Desperado" hitmakers released a statement on Thursday. "The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds," they wrote.
"We are very appreciative and aware of our good fortune. We never imagined our lengthy run would last as long as it has. The time has come for us to complete the circle, but everything has its appointed time.
The rock group, which was formed in Los Angeles and is indelibly linked to the Southern California country-rock sound, said Thursday that they would be adding 12 more dates to their Long Goodbye tour, which will begin in New York City's Madison Square Garden on September 7. However, no dates for California have yet been made public.
Depending on demand, it might be necessary for us to visit some cities again due to the challenges of finding venues for numerous nights. But before we wrap up, we hope to see as many of you as possible," they said. Most importantly, we want to express our sincere gratitude for supporting this band and its music. In the end, you are the reason we have been able to continue for more than 50 years. The music continues even though this is our final song.
Steely Dan, a modern act whose members are also Rock and Roll Hall of Famers and six-time Grammy Award winners, will perform with the six-time Grammy Award winners.
Boston, Newark, Denver, Indianapolis, Detroit, Cleveland, Atlanta, Charlotte and Raleigh, Lexington, Ky., and St. Paul, Minn. are among the cities where the bands have scheduled performances through mid-November. You may access the complete schedule here. Following their recently extended Hotel California tour, which was named after their iconic 1976 record and was completed in Baltimore in April, comes the Long Goodbye tour.
For all of the scheduled performances, presale tickets and VIP packages for the Long Goodbye will be made available on July 12. General sales start on July 14.
