Washington, D.C.; Istanbul (Reuters) - The NATO summit in Lithuania next week may see a meeting between Presidents of the United States Joe Biden and Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, according to sources familiar with the plans.
One individual with knowledge of the situation indicated that preparations are currently being made for a quick Biden-Erdogan meeting during the summit. Although it has not yet been planned, a "pull aside" meeting between the leaders is conceivable.
While Biden is a staunch supporter, Erdogan continues to be a strident opponent of Sweden's application to join the military alliance, and the subject is likely to take up most of any conversation.
